  • In the fuller sense of the term “workplace innovation,” it not only includes innovation such as developing new technologies or products, but also creating various social innovation through new or combined interventions for work organizations, HR management, or utilization of existing technologies. Workplace innovation refers to small incremental improvements in processes, operation units, and various business domains such as small ideas for product improvement, reducing waste related to work processes, optimization of each process, improving logistics inside/outside the workplace, creating multifunctional workplaces, and improving operation movements and methods and quality management methods. Workplace innovation also refers to social innovation including the discovery of issues within the workplace, and finding solutions. For example, creating people-friendly workplaces, such as clean workplaces, neat workplaces, pleasant working environments, work processes and allocation with consideration for older workers, and improving working environments to create safe workplaces, is a fundamental part of workplace innovation. Another part of workplace innovation includes improvements in various domains to boost production efficiency and profitability such as improving productivity and quality, effective utilization of digital technologies in each stage and domain of business and production, customized production and logistics, efficient management of raw materials and parts, and reducing defects.
